FWEG have a dedicated hydrographic survey vessel that can be used on both still and flowing water in surveys of all sizes and scales as well in commercial environments. The boat is a half cabin Hellwig with a 50 PS four-stroke outboard engine which is even permitted for offshore operations upto Category C.



The vessel is equipped with a SIMRAD EA 400 echo sounder with a 200 Khz transmitter. This system utilizes the “simrad profile 2000” software to record pitch, roll and GPS information which is then used to correct the data and remove the effects of the movement of the vessel. Additional sensors can be incorporated into the system if required to further enhance the data capture abilities of the system. The positioning and navigation of the system is performed with either differential or kinematic GPS methods or by means of a augmented GPS reference service such as SaPoS or ASCOS.



The online evaluation for the positioning is made by software “Simrad Profil 2000.With this software, data of different sensors can be recorded (e.g. Roll, Pitch or those of a second GPF receiver) in order to eliminate mistakes. For surveys on standing waters or waters difficult to access, we either dispose of a 2,8 m rubber boat moved by a gasoline-operated or an electric motor or , alternatively, a 4 m aluminium boat.
